Michael Lee, SVP of Growth at Matter Labs, highlighted that Pudg World leverages zkSync’s ZK technology to unlock novel business models and gaming experiences, drawing parallels to the transformative shift witnessed in the gaming industry during the advent of mobile games.

The team envisions the new game as “an immersive, digital environment” accessible to Pudg Penguins NFT holders, Pudgy Toy owners, and all “adventurous gamers.”
The announcement emphasizes that participation in the alpha version of Pudg World doesn’t require NFT ownership or toy purchase.
However, holders can derive specific benefits from their Pudg Penguin toys, each equipped with a QR code.
Scanning the code enables owners to claim unique traits for their digital Forever Pudg Penguin character within the game. Furthermore, the integration of toys with existing NFT IP ensures that current NFT holders receive licensing royalties for each corresponding toy.
Luca Netz, Pudg Penguins CEO, underscored that Pudgy Toy owners can fully enjoy the experience without needing blockchain knowledge, signifying a noteworthy leap for Web3 and the NFT arena with Pudg World’s alpha launch.
While user trading won’t be available initially, returns can be derived solely from the original sale. As Pudg World advances through later phases, players will eventually unlock opportunities to actively engage in the game economy, as highlighted by Michael Lee.
